2012 News Release - Top 10 Announced
A panel of judges will embark on a secret taste test to determine the winner. The winner will be announced on May 2, 2012.
Be sure to ‘like’ the Iowa Beef Council Facebook page to follow the 2012 Iowa Best Burger Contest.
Selection of Finalists
Ten (10) burgers will be selected as finalists from throughout the state based on the number of nominations each restaurant receives. All burgers nominated from a single restaurant will be included in the total nomination count for that restaurant. The judges will visit finalists to select the winner.
Judging Criteria
The following guidelines will be used in judging:
- Appearance
- Taste
- Proper Cooking Temperature / degree of doneness (medium doneness, 160º F, or no pink color in the burger.)
Prizes
The judging panel will select the Grand Prize winner for the title of “Iowa’s Best Burger” who will receive a plaque designating the restaurant as the winner of “Iowa’s Best Burger Contest 2012”. The winning restaurant will also receive:
- Featured article in the Iowa Beef Industry Council’s May Beef Month media kit.
- Featured article in the May issue of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association magazine.
