Take a minute to get to know our beef farmers in Iowa.  Below is our feature farmer; you will also find a list of other feature farmer profiles at the bottom of the page.  In response to a growing interest in knowing more about how beef is raised and connect with the beef community, NCBA and the Beef Checkoff generated its first-ever social responsibility report, The Cattlemen's Stewardship Review. The first-of-its-kind look at the values and vision of America's cattlemen and how they responsibly raise good food and healthy animals.

Tom and Jane Hotz
Lone Tree, IA

Tom and Jane Hotz are cow/calf producers and feeders from Johnson County where they have 75 cows and a 300 head feedlot. Tom currently serves on the Iowa Beef Industry Council Board of Directors.

Why are you involved in the beef industry?

“I want to do my part to help the profitability and sustainability of the cattle industry.”

How do you want others to see the beef industry?

“Beef is a value added product that consumers can enjoy as a nutritious benefit to their diet.”

What is one thing that you want consumers to know about beef and beef production?

“Production of beef is done by hard working farmers and ranchers that are concerned about the environment and well being of their cattle. Producers want to provide a safe and desirable product to our consumers.”
